May 2019
After a false start last year we have decide to pick up our dream and leave this summer. Our goal is to set sail in July from the Netherlands first going south…

We’re going to travel with our beloved boat Isis. It still feels unreal and we’re both excited and a bit scared of what is to come, we will probably only fully realize we’re full time sailors once we have left. The past year wasn’t always easy as we were living in two worlds and it felt like
decisions were taken for us instead of by us. Deciding to pick up our dream from where we left it a year earlier feels like the right choice for us now and everyday our confidence in this decision grows, along with a natural tension for the unknown.
Next week we’ll finish our work and will start our ‘interim retirement’. The weeks afterwards will focus on preparing the boat, cleaning out the house, putting all our stuff in storage and mostly spending time with friends and family. Wende will complete here year at school and on July 21st we will set sail.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do…Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the tradewinds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain
How to follow us
This blog will be the main format in which we will share our experiences. The goal is to provide regular updates in both Dutch and English sharing our experiences and designations. Where we will go is still unknown, we’ve got a high level planning which you find here. You can also learn more on the crew, our dream and the boat.
You can also follow us on Instagram, where we will maintain a more real life visual update on where we are and what we’ll be doing. Please follow us here.
Finally, if you would like to see where we are at a given time you can check marine traffic and find our boat with the following MMSI registration number: 244210716. Please note that we’re only life on Marine Traffic if we have our navigation equipment on, which will be in transit, and when we’re close to a land station.
