Crew

We’re a young family of three girls and one boy, passionate about traveling, sailing, adventures and each other. Our two youngest sailors are Wende Resa (2014) and Isa Mare (2016). Both girls were born on a beautiful sunny Sunday. Sunday children are ‘ lucky dogs’ and ‘fortune favourites’.

The Girls

Isa & Wende

Our fortune favorites joined us on sailing trips when they where only a few weeks old. Starting well protected in their MaxiCosi and later in car and table seats. Wende is a curious girl with an open mind. Isa is the more adventurous of the two, not shy at all and loves to give hugs and kisses. We’re looking forward to spend more time together as a family in these important years of their development.

The start

We know each other since Froukje moved into the student house where Joost was living. History repeated, as similar to Joost’s parents, we fell in love. In the first years we were together we’ve travelled many parts of the world including; Suriname, Venezuela, Trinidad & Tobago, Curacao, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. Each trip inspired us to travel more and further. At the same time we fell in love with traveling over water, spending time at beautiful beaches and exploring the underwater world. Joost has been sailing since his childhood and after a few trips on the family boat Froukje got the hang. Top that with reading Solo of Tania Aebi and a dream was born. However to realize this dream a few steps had to be taken. Froukje completed her bachelor for nursing and started to work in the university hospital, UMCG. Today she is working as a nurse on the intensive care. She is a quick learner, keeps her head cool in stressful situations and above all a loving and passionate mother. Joost had his own event organizing company and also performed as a DJ, this gave the flexibility to travel multiple months per year. In order to have a more secure income he started working in a marketing role in the life science industry. Working for an international company he has visited many places and spend quite some time abroad. This gave even more reason for us to make this journey, as we will be able to spend more time together. Joost is a great father; the girls love him and like to play with daddy.
